Reminder: Hyatt Gold Passport Category Changes Starting September 1

As I mentioned earlier this month, Hyatt is changing the category of some of their hotel properties starting September 1, 2011. Tomorrow is the last day to make a reservation at a hotel that is moving to a higher category and redeem at the current award level. Overall, there are 43 properties changing categories (25 moving up, 18 moving down). My recommendation: book today so you do not forget tomorrow!

For reservations made prior to September 1 for hotels that are moving to a lower category, a refund for the point difference will be given after 9/1. Hyatt has stated that they will automatically deposit these points, but make sure to double check your account to ensure these points are credited. In the case you are not 100% sure of when your stay will take place, they are allowing you to make an award reservation for any day, and you will then have until September 30 to change your reservation to another date.

  1. Reservations can be made under the current reward level chart until September 1. Technically August 31 is last day to make reservations, but certainly wise not to wait until last minute :).

    • @Ric – thanks for the reminder that there are 31 days in August and not 30 – guess I have one more day of summer now?! Have updated the post to indicate that tomorrow is the last day to make a reservation, but do to not delay. I remember last time they made changes to the award categories, the last day to book under the current points actually had the new reward category chart up. While a quick call to Hyatt Gold Passport fixed this, it still required an additional phone call.
