Reminder: Register for 1,000 Southwest Rapid Reward Points with Starwood Stays

This is just a quick reminder that the last day to register for the Southwest/Starwood promotion is tomorrow, October 15. This is actually a great promotion, that takes no additional effort (aside from registering of course) and where you can earn BOTH SPG and Soutwest points. This is a promotion that actually allows double-dipping, which is great!

Between August 1 and December 15, for every stay at a Sheraton, Four Points, Aloft, and Element Hotels in North America, you will earn 1,000 Southwest Rapid Reward points. With the cut and dry Southwest Rapid Rewards system, 1,000 points will get you $16.67 towards a “Wanna Get Away” Fare.

I still have not received my 1,000 bonus points from a stay in mid-September, but the terms & conditions do state: “Bonus Rapid Rewards Points will post to the Member’s Rapid Rewards account 6–8 weeks after the end of the promotion period if not earlier.”

Do not forget to register, as Starwood is very strict with registration dates. To book a Starwood hotel, click here.

    • @Lauren- unfortunately it is just for paid stays made through SPG. which mean stays booked through a third party won’t count either (expedia, etc.).

  1. I have been *triple* dipping here by taking advantage of the 1k Amex points per stay at Four Points along with this and of course regular SPG points. Have had around 8 stays during the promo time and nothing posted on either of the extras

    • @Phil – I have not had any of my stays posted either. I am hoping this will not require multiple calls to Starwood. Let me know if anything gets posted and I will do the same.

    • @Aldie – None of mine have posted either. However, I did look at my SPG account this morning and saw activity for them transferring the points over to Southwest. It does state:

      -1000 SOUTWEST PROMO MILES (10/16/2011)
      +1000 1000 RAPIDREWARD PTS @AL (R1K) (10/16/2011)

  2. My SPG account also has the stays (which appear to be for August and September) posted this morning so I expect posting to my SWA account in the next day or two. It makes sense now that the first credits would post after the sign-up deadline. Perhaps credit will be posted more frequently from here on out.

  3. All the entries for Triple Up confused me and I counted incorrectly. Looks like the SPG-SWA points are to date. Now they just have to hit my SWA account.

  4. As of this morning, I saw that SPG had posted my points (5000) but Rapid Rewards is only showing 1000 points – will see what happens the next few days…………..

    • @Aldie & MJ – On my SPG account I see that my three stays have credited and then deducted the 1,000 Southwest Points (3,000), but similar to both of you my Rapid Reward account only shows 1,000 points. I will be keeping a close eye on this as well.

  5. The first SOUTHWEST rep I spoke with was not even aware of the program and as you can imagine that conversation did not get very far. I was handed off to another rep and she would have to research the history but promised to email once a conclusion is reached. I was hoping that the points would show up this morning but no such luck………..has anyone heard differently?????

    • @Aldie – I still have only received 1 dump of 1,000 RR points (although it should be 3,000 in total). Please let me know what you hear from the rep. I will be calling today as well and will let you all know what I hear.

  6. Missy a Customer Service rep said that the points are in a queue and that I should wait just a bit longer. Unfortunatley, she had no idea when the transfers would be complete. I then asked could she the other 4000 points that I am owed but the answer was NO – not exactly a comfy feeling.

  7. I am glad to report that all my 5000 points have finally been credited to my RR account – it only took 2 emails and 2 phone calls to make it so……….
