Southwest and AirTran Three Day Sale: $49, $99, and $139 Fares

UPDATE: AirTran is also having the same three day sale. The information is the same, but their city pairs differ.

Southwest is having another three day sale where you can snag a $49, $99, or $139 fare one-way based on the distance between the two city pairs. I took a quick look to see if this would work for some upcoming travel I have, however, there are a few more restrictions than I expected, and only certain city pairs are included. Additionally, Friday and Sunday flights are excluded. Those two caveats put a damper on my ability to take advantage of this sale, but hopefully some of you will be able to find some flights that work for you!

Remember, Southwest companion passes can be used on ALL fare types, so if you are the proud owner of this awesome pass, that means two people can travel for one low fare!

Things to know:

  • Purchase by: June 14, 2012, 11:59 pm Pacific Time
  • Travel dates: August 13 through November 14, 2012.
  • Blackout dates: August 18, August 30, September 3, and September 4, 2012.

Unfortunately the Southwest 15% off coupon code that I posted about yesterday does not work with this sale.

  1. Defiantly not as good as the previous 49, 79, 99 sale they had twic last year. Excluding Fridays in addition to Sunday makes weekend travel out of the question. Also it appears the fares are only working for cities which your home airport flies direct to, none of the flights with connections to the selected cities are discounted. The time period is also difficult becind Fall – before Novemeber. Thumbs down for this, I was anticipating a much better deal. Still hats off to Southwest for being a great airline!

    • @Tracy – I completely agree. I was able to get an $80 fare last year from LGA to MSY, but no go this time around. The few flights I need require a stop and they are not included 🙁

I do not mind the Friday/Sunday as much as I can be flexible, but limiting the city pairs is really a bummer.

  2. Excluding Friday & Sunday suck big time

  3. I had some success with this. We have a trip from ABQ to DTW in September. Those fares were $181 each way yesterday, and I booked them today at $150 each way. With 4 pax, that saved me $248 … or rather the hassle of rebooking to claim the credit.
