TripAlertz Credits Expiring

Back in October 2011 I introduced the travel deal website “TripAlertz“. At that time, the site was offering a $10 credit just for getting a friend to sign up for the site, and the amount of credits you could receive was unlimited. A labeled this post as “Want to Travel for Free” as you really could rack in the credits just by posting your link to Twitter, Facebook, etc. or sending out a mass email to friends. At that time I posted about the promotion, the credits did not expire for 2 years! However, a few weeks later the credits went from 2 years to 1 year to a 6 month expiration date. While I understand a 6 month expiration date is fair due to the easy terms to receive the credits, many folks were probably unaware that these terms ever changed.

The good news was that the site never really enforced the 6 month expiration rule and until about a month ago you could still used credits that should have technically expired. Well, about a month ago, TripAlertz went into their member accounts and wiped away all credits – even those that were earned in the past 6 months. At least that was the case with my account. It took a few (actually many!) emails and phone calls, but I was able to finally get in touch with a representative that was able to help me. He told me to feel free to pass along his name/email address if your credits within the past 6 months have expired as well (Mike,, (888) 425-3789).

So check out your credits and see if any have expired that really shouldn’t have. Going forward, go use your credits! I still have yet to use any credits, but I absolutely will be now. I was holding out for something really good, but I guess that showed me a lesson to not hoard travel credits/points/miles, etc!

Also, in case you are interested, you can still “Travel for Free!” as the site is still offering a nice referral bonus for referring your friends. They are now offering $5 in credits for each friend you get to join (and you can earn an unlimited number of credits). Unfortunately the friend does not get anything in return, except the potential of finding a great deal and then also getting their friends to join! Spread your link through whatever social media channel you so desire and see what happens! I have no idea how long the $5 credit will last, but seems to be the norm over the past year and a half.

If you are not currently a member, feel free to use my referral link (no pressure at all, but always appreciated) or have an existing friend invite you as someone might as well get $5 credit! Also, make sure after you register you activate your account in the email they send. The best part is that all your friend has to do simply is join. No purchase, no gimmick, just probably some extra emails in their inbox (well, many extra emails!).

Where would you like to go with your free vacation?! And if you have any experience with TripAlertz, please let me know, as I would love to hear!
