American Express Daily Getaways Starting Monday – Week 1

As I first posted back in March, American Express’s Daily Getaway deals are starting up again June 10th – this Monday! The Daily Getaways by American Express site has been updated with the Weeks 1 and 2 posted, but as of right now most of them aren’t too interesting. For those of you who are new to the points/miles and travel discount world, over the next 5 consecutive weeks, Daily Getaways offer various travel getaway deals for a heavily discounted price. A different offer will be available each weekday and they typically sell out quick (some within seconds!). The daily offers can include anything travel related, for example: discounted points/miles for purchase, activities in various cities, hotels, car rentals, etc.

Since one of the main sponsors is American Express, if you use their credit card to purchase a deal, you will get an additional 10% off. This includes their co-branded cards as well (i.e., Starwood Amex, Delta Amex, etc.). In the past many reported being able to use Amex gift cards as well. All offers go on sale at 1pm EST each day and for some you need to be at your computer at that very moment.

In the past, I’ve been able to purchase some Radisson Hotel stay certificate and Wyndham points. I’ve tried for Hyatt points before, but wasn’t able to grab any. None of these are available next week, but don’t worry, better deals will come. For next week, the Marriott Gift Cards are probably the best offer for the week. Also, for the ones listed below, typically these are not the offers that go within seconds, so you should have some time – although you never know!

So here are the deals for Week 1:

I will post a more detailed explanation and analysis of each deal the day prior or the morning of, including whether or not I’d recommend jumping on one of these deals. I’ll also continue to detail out each weeks deals the week prior so you can be fully prepared and debate whether or not one of them interests you.
I personally love these 5 weeks of Daily Getaways. While I typically don’t purchase much, it is usually the thrill that gets to me! Will you be purchasing any of the above deals?

  1. Aw, hecky-darn! When the Jun 11th deal is released I’ll be in the air, on my way to go rent an Alamo car.

    Oh well, next time.

  2. Does anyone know if I can use an American Express credit card to make multiple transactions or is it just one offer each day? I read the FAQ and it’s a little confusing:

“What are the purchase limits? The purchase of offers is limited to 1 purchase per offer (quantity restrictions differ by product), per day, per card (e.g., you may not purchase the same exact offer more than once with the same credit card on the same day. You may, however, purchase multiple quantities of that offer in 1 single purchase if the quantity restrictions allow more than one to be purchased at a time.)”

I assume that means I can go for the $1000 Marriott Gift Card, 2x $500 Gift Card 5x $100 Gift Card or am I limited to choosing one or the other but not all 3 offers? I’m planning to do this as 3 different transaction/purchases unless they allow all 3 in one session.

  3. If it was a week earlier I’d be all over the seaworld stuff. Alas, I will be at Seaworld a day or two before. Hoping the 20% off for rapid rewards members still works.

  4. Tomorrow’s deal with the City Pass is not that great. You can get the pass at Costco for $66.40 if you have a membership which is better than the price of Daily Getaways.
