Yesterday, another blogger Point Me to the Plane posted that Travelocity is offering a coupon for $50 off a $300+ hotel purchase. While reading the post I remembered that through an American Express sync promotion you can get $50 off a $200+. The good news is that these two promotions can be combined since one is a coupon code while the other is a statement credit and no coupon code is required.
So here is how you take advantage of both promos:
- $50 off $300+ coupon: Use promotion code FUN50E to receive $50 off a $300+ hotel purchase. The code is only valid on “GoodBuy” hotels. This promotion expires Wednesday (TODAY!) at 11:59pm CST. You can read the terms and conditions here.
- $50 off $200+ statement credit: Sync your American Express card and register for the Travelocity promotion and receive $50 statement credit when your hotel purchase is $200+. This promotion is also only valid for “GoodBuy” hotels. This promotion originally expired at the end of June, but has been extended till July 31, 2013. Currently, I only see this promotion valid with Twitter and not through any of the other Amex Sync avenues (Facebook and AmericanExpress.com). So you MUST have your American Express credit card synced with Twitter and register for this promotion. To register, you must tweet “#AmexTravelocityOffer”. Others have confirmed they are able to see it via Facebook and their American Express “Offers” tab, but it wasn’t appearing for my accounts. You can read more about this promotion in this prior blog post.
A GoodBuy hotel is essentially any property that participates in the Low Guaranteed Rate, which are most hotels on the sate – these rooms require full pre-payment at the time of booking. If you have multiple Amex cards, you can register all of them via different accounts – for example, three different Twitter accounts and book your hotel reservation as single night stays if they are more than $300+ a night to take advantage of both promotions.
Combining both is a great way to get $100 off a hotel stay! For a $300/night room this is a 33% discount – not too shabby!
Anyone able to take advantage of this?
