Amex Sync Promotion: $15 Back with $75 Purchase

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

By syncing your American Express card, you can get a $15 statement credit with a $75+ purchase at You can register for this promotion two ways:

  1. Going to your American Express account and registering for this promotion via the “Offers for You” tab, or
  2. Syncing your American Express credit card to Twitter and tweeting  #AmexWalmart;  you can sync your American Express card with Twitter here

If you read this blog often, you know that I absolutely love the American Express Sync concept and have received a bunch of statement credits due to making purchases with a registered Amex credit card. Remember, these promotions are only valuable to those with an American Express card (non-Corporate or prepaid cards) and is only a one-time statement credit. If you have multiple Amex cards, you will need to sync them to different accounts.

To learn more about these American Express Sync promotions, read this prior blog post. Also, check out the other Amex Sync promotions currently going on here.

Thanks to Point Me to the Plane for sharing this promotion!

  1. I synced a card over Twitter and another through my online account. The one synced through the online account was used after the Twitter-synced card, but I received a notification thanking me for using my synced card almost immediately afterward. The Twitter-synced card was issued by another bank, and I did not receive a confirmation.

I can’t remember how this worked last time I took advantage of these promotions — will they take longer to send confirmation for non-Amex-issued Amex cards, or will they not send confirmation at all?

    • @jake from msp – give it a few days to see if it hit your statement (the credit ) and if not then reach out to Amex. What credit card is the third one?

  2. @Jake, were the cards that confirmed synced through Twitter or through your account? Were they both issued by American Express, or a bank like Citi?

  3. So I could buy a $75 Walmart gift card, which gives me a 5-cent discount on already cheap gas, and get $15 back from AMEX. COOL!

  4. Huh, looks like this only works with certain Amex cards. For example, I don’t see the offers for an Amex HHonors Surpass, but I do see it for a standard Amex Green. Yes for Amex Business Rewards Gold. Yes for Amex SPG. Yes for Platinum Mercedes Benz.

What is it about the Surpass that means it isn’t eligible?

    • @glenn – the Amex Hilton surpass card should be eligible. However some accounts show different offers and I’m not sure why. Sync up this card to twitter and register that way by using the # included in the post.

  5. @dealswelike — Yep, Citi AA. I linked and used it successfully for the sync opportunities last winter, but I can’t recall if they sent a confirmation or not.

    • @Chris F – The problem with the Citi Amex cards is that they do not always work (although they should) and if it doesn’t work Amex directs you to Citi and Citi directs you to Amex and ultimately no one is able to help! Let me know how it goes though.

  6. Yikes. Last time I was in the States and was able to take advantage, I used it for Best Buy and one of the outlet centers without a problem. I also had success with the Amex prepaid and Target Amex, but going through old emails I can’t find any confirmations. Hoping they only confirm with cards synced through your account on Amex’s site.

  7. but why is walmart canceling SO many orders?? for everyone. i had 4/5 canceled. lame! now it screws everything up. happening to many- nice way to ruin a good promo

    • @m – I haven’t been paying attention to this, but that is crazy. Did you call Walmart customer service and inquire?

  8. Just an update, I received the credit to my Citi Amex already. I have not received it for any of my Amex-issued CCs, though. A little funny. Credit posted two days after purchase.
