9% off Hotels.com Reservations

For Hotels.com reservations booked by September 8, 2013 you can get 9% off your hotels.com reservation by using coupon code SUMMERFUN9. This code is valid for all reservations through November 30, 2013. This coupon is valid only for new hotel bookings, but if you have a reservation booked that you are able to cancel, feel free to cancel and re-book (just make sure your original reservation isn’t passed the cancellation date and the price hasn’t increased).

The coupon excludes:

  • Package bookings
  • Bookings made through a group travel service
  • Bookings paid for at a hotel
  • Bookings paid for in a foreign currently
  • Bookings at non-participating hotels (you can check out excluded hotels here – mostly chain hotels)

Additionally, reservations using this coupon is NOT eligible for their Welcome Rewards program. Keep this in mind when making your reservation. The Hotels.com Welcome Rewards program gives you 1 free night after 10 paid nights, so essentially 10% off if you get to the 10 night threshold. In this scenario using the 9% off code is slightly less valuable, but only by a percentage. Also, last year I booked a few hotels through Hotels.com with a coupon code and still got nights towards my Welcome Rewards account, so there is always the chance they will still count.

Remember, you can also book through a cash back portals for extra savings. For example, Topcashback.com will give you 10% back, Bigcrumbs.com will give you 4.5% cash back, and Chase Ultimate Rewards will give you 4 points per dollar spent.

  1. Actually Welcome Rewards don’t work out to a 10% rebate, only 9%, because you’re getting every 11th night, not every 10th night free. Say you stay 10 nights averaging $100, then you get a $100 toward the 11th night. You’ve paid $1000 for $1100 of value, so a 9% (9.09 to be more exact) discount. So it’s a wash with this offer.
