American Express just launched a great Amex Sync promotion today where targeted accounts can receive a $30 or $75 statement credit with a Virgin America flight purchase.
- Get a $30 statement credit with a $150+ purchase
- Get a $75 statement credit with a $375+ purchase
This is for a single purchase and expires March 10, 2014. The transaction on your credit card must be listed for $150+ or $375+ (depending on which promotion you were targeted for). This means if you make two different purchases between now and March 10 that add up to the threshold amount, it will NOT trigger the statement credit. It must be a single transaction to trigger the statement credit.
With that said, American Express only cares about the amount that hits your credit card bill, it doesn’t matter how many passengers the flight was for. For example, if you and a friend are flying and each flight is $250, make the reservation together and pay using one synced Amex credit card. This WILL trigger the statement credit as your total flight cost will be $500 (in this example).
As of right now you can only register for these promotions through your AmericanExpress.com account, but I have a feeling there might be registration links coming at some point (there are T&C links for both the $30 and $75 promo which makes me believe this, but of course I could be wrong!).
I was able to see the $75 promotion for one of my cards (I have two Amex cards listed in my account), and my husband had the same promotion listed for two of his cards (out of the three total in his account). I am not sure why some accounts are targeted and others are not, it is essentially up to Amex’s marketing team. With that said, in the past some folks have been able to call American Express and get the promotion added to their account, so if you do not see it listed try giving Amex a call. To learn more about synced your Amex credit card in your AmericanExpress.com account read this prior post. This post also details how to sync multiple cards (I highly recommend reading this prior to registering!).
Remember, this is for flights purchased by March 10, you do not actually need to fly by March 10, 2014!
Let me know if you have any questions in regards to this promotion, or any other Amex Sync promos for that matter!
