This is probably the best overall deal during the 5-week American Express Daily Getaways promotion. At 1pm EST today you will have the opportunity to purchase Hyatt points as low as 0.94 cents per point. Here are the different options.

  • 24,000 Hyatt points for $260 (95 available); cost = 1.08 cents per point, 0.972 cents per point with Amex card
  • 40,000 Hyatt points for $415 (15 available); cost = 1.04 cents per point, or 0.94 cents per point with Amex card
  • 72,000 Hyatt points for $775 (15 available); cost = 1.08 cents per point, or 0.972 cents per point with Amex card
  • 30,000 Hyatt points for $330 (35 available); cost = 1.1 cents per point, or 0.99 cents per point with Amex card

Example of a good deal: So lets say you are able to purchase the 30,000 point package. This can be used for a 2 night stay at a category 4 hotel (category 4 hotel = 15,000 points per night). While some category 4 hotels are pretty inexpensive, there are some great category 4 hotels out there and during peak times can be quite pricey. For example, the Hyatt Escala Lodge in Utah which is at the base of The Canyons Mountain is a category 4 hotel. During peak times this hotel can easily be $400+ a night. With this offer, you are only spending $148.50 per night! There are many examples of finding a great deal for all the offers and amongst all Hyatt hotel categories.

Why this deal isn’t great: As you can see from above, there are only 160 total packages available! Those packages will be sold out within 1 second of the deal going live. I’ve tried to purchase these packages the past two years and struck out both times. It all comes down to luck and if you are interested the only way you will potentially be able to purchase this offer is by having everything set up a few minutes in advance. Make sure the Daily Getaway site is up and your cursor is in the “Buy Now” part of the page (when the deal goes live it will appear right under the number of offers available on the upper-left hand side of the offer details). Keep on refreshing your computer so the “Buy Now” red button appears and immediately click it. If you luck out you will then have 5 minutes to actually purchase the deal. Make sure to have your credit card and Hyatt Gold Passport number available. And do not mis-enter anything because if your credit card details are entered incorrectly you will lose out on the deal!

Goodluck!!!! Let me know if you have any success. I personally will not even be attempting.
