For those that frequent this site, you already know that the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Reserve credit card sign up offer gives you two free at almost ANY Hilton hotel worldwide. For those that are now yet aware, here is the deal:

  • Sign Up Bonus: 2 free weekend night certificates after making $2,500 in eligible purchases within 4 months of account opening. Plus, earn a $100 statement credit after spending $100 or more on your first hotel stay at a Hilton hotel within the first three months.
    • Free night certificates are limited to just weekend nights (Fri, Sat, Sun), but fortunately are not restricted to certain hotel categories
    • The only restriction is at Hilton Grand Vacation properties, all-inclusive Resorts, and Waldorf Astoria hotels that do not offer standard rooms
    • These free night certificates expire 12 months after they are earned

While this card has additional perks (you can read more about the perks here), two free nights at a TOP NOTCH hotel is a great offer. And, if you spend $10,000 on the card within the cardmember year you can earn another free night weekend certificate (on an annual basis if you qualify). So where are the best properties to redeem these two free night certificates. While I like the get the biggest bang out of my points/free night vouchers, I know many people are content with a $200/night hotel – free is free, right? But, what are the BEST properties to get a free night within the Hilton portfolio? This list of hotels that can be easily $350+ a night. And remember, when you use your free night voucher you are not paying the additional tax as well.

  • Maldives – Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
  • Bora Bora – Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa
  • London – The Trafalgar London & The Waldorf Hilton, London (there are more, but those two seem to be the most expensive)
  • Paris – Concorde Opéra Paris & Hilton Paris La Defense
  • Toyko – Conrad Tokyo
  • Koh Samui, Thailand – Conrad Koh Samui
  • Amsterdam – Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
  • Maui – Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
  • Miami – Hilton Bentley Miami/South Beach & Hilton Cabana Miami Beach
  • Key West – DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Grand Key – Key West & The Reach, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
  • New York City – Waldorf Astoria New York & Conrad New York & Hilton Times Square (there are more, but those seem to be the most expensive)
  • Breckenridge, Colorado – DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Breckenridge
  • Park City, Utah – Waldorf Astoria Park City

While Maldives and Bora Bora is always ridiculously expensive, some of the other hotels is based on seasons. London, Paris, Amsterdam, and other hotels throughout Europe are going to be most expensive during the summer months, while Miami and Key West is ridiculously expensive during the winter/spring. New York City is expensive leading up to Christmas (and many other random times throughout the year), and Maui has it’s peak times as well mid-December to April. Ski destinations will also be most expensive during ski season, but very reasonably priced during the summer months. So of course your vouchers will get more dollar value when redeemed during peak time. How to enter the giveaway: Comment on THIS BLOG POST by end of day Monday, June 22 at 11:59pm EDT with your best usage for these two free nights (if you already have the card), or how you will redeem these nights if you are looking to apply for the card. I will give away two $100 Hilton gift cards to a randomly selected winner to use on a future hotel stay. You only have two days to enter. Comment away! Key Links:

  1. […] 2)  Deals We Like blog has a a deal (or rather a post) that I really like! It’s on best uses of Citi HHonors Reserve Visa certificates.  Quite a few are in USA. This card is on my list of best hotel points bonuses, but the offer in the post also offers a $100 credit. Here is the link to the post. […]

  1. I would like to finally get to Bora Bora and stay at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa. If I had 2 free nights, I could rationalize burning up the points needed for airfare!

  2. Would like to go somewhere more exotic, but I am actually using mine for rooms at the Chicago Hilton across from Grant Park for Lollapalooza in 2 months.

  3. Great post. Two free nights for this annual fee of $85/$95 the first year is still a steal, in my opinion, and you get the wonderful gold status.
I’d like to try the Conrad New York in lower Manhattan. Ranked by many as one of Hilton’s top properties worldwide, can combine these two free nights with points from another program for award nights elsewhere in the city afterward.

  4. You cannot use them at the Towers of the Waldorf Astoria New York. I tried and was told that the hotel doesn’t participate in award redemptions. So, I’m going to try to use mine at the Boca Raton Resort and Club when I go there for a wedding.

  5. If you ask me again tomorrow my answer would probably be different (since there are several I would be interested in) but for the moment I’ll say Grand Wailea Maui.

  6. We have been wanting to do a ski trip and would combine them with the Hyatt annual free night in Park City, Utah!

  7. I would use them on room service during my trip on points at the Hilton in Venice and Sorrento, Italy!! 🙂

  8. I’m using them at the San Diego Gaslamp Hilton. Maybe not the best use as far as paid night value, but they were going to expire and it’s still $300ish per night. Also, I can walk to PETCO Park for my Mets games from there…

  9. Ooo la la! I would use the gift card at the Concorde Opera Paris! I’ve been strategizing a Paris vacation for months now and what a boost to the fun winning this gift card would be! Thx for the opportunity.

  10. My wife an I used ours for 2 nights at the Waldorf in Park City, UT, the going rate was $830 per night! Can’t wait to go back.

  11. Nothing like my dream family vacation @ Maui – Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort. I will use them with two free weekend nights.

  12. Just because I am already planning a trip to NYC, I would go for one of the Hilton’s there. Would have to look at the map to see which location I like best.

  13. Used mine for Conrad koh Samui. I actually got 2 sets when the 2 browser trick was still alive. Used 2nd set for Conrad Tokyo.

  14. I stayed at the Conrad Tokyo last year on a pre-devaluation Hilton stay which was amazing. Definitely would use the 2 free nights there again!

  15. I’ve used it in Roosevelt New Orleans during mardi gras and Waldorf Astoria Park City during skii season. Both were absolutely wonderful experience.

  16. As a student, it’d be great to use them for convention sites – always seem to be expensive, e.g. Austin Hilton convention center

  17. I’d use em at the Conrad Maldives. As my take separate from the competition, I have stayed in the Hilton Bora Bora, and I think I’ve never looked forward so much to a hotel. Sadly it was in a word…terrible. Tired service, super average beach. Some of the worst food I’ve eaten in my life and I ain’t picky, I’ll eat anything. Everything bar none tasted of old fried fish, including pizza. Not sure how it was even possible. Complete lack of atmosphere throughout the place. You couldn’t pay me to go back. We went to the intercontinental afterwards and that was heaven.

  18. There might be better ways to use them monetarily but I can think of no way I’d enjoy more than the Conrad Koh Samui

  19. I plan to go to Bora Bora in 2016. I will apply for the card next year so the free nights don’t expire before I plan to use them.

  20. I used them to take the kids to LEGOLAND San Diego over Spring Break and stayed at the Bayfront Hilton. The second night we got upgraded to a junior suite with a panoramic view over the bay — AWESOME!

  21. I’m planning a trip to Japan for the fall savings on 2 nights at that amazing hotel are more than I can ask for (Japan is pretty expensive as it is).

  22. I would probably pick the Grand Wailea since I have never been to Maui-having siad that, we had a very nice points award stay at the Bentley in Miami.

  23. Toss up between Conrad Samui and Bora Bora. I think it’s easier to get to Thailand with miles and cheaper to enjoy so I’d probably pick Koh Samui. I don’t have the card. …yet 😉

  24. Hoping to take my family of four for a stay at Rome Cavalieri with the 2 weekend nights! Thanks for your consideration

  25. I would definitely use it to go to the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. After traveling to India last year, I heard a lot about it and really want to go and relax!

  26. My wife and I just got the card this week and will be using it to celebrate our anniversary in the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam (where we got engaged) this fall.

  27. I bet I could put my feet up in an excellent Las Vegas Hilton after spending some time hiking in the Red Rock area.

  28. I would use them in Prague and the Hilton in the center of town. We are going this fall and would love to use the card to enhance our stay.

  29. I applied for this card last year and was able to use the two free nights in the Maldives. My husband applied for the card also, so we got three free nights there!

  30. I received two citi blak cards two-3mo. ago what are my chances of being approved?
    Is there a business version?
    Thank you
