Yesterday I wrote about a few online shopping portal bonuses in the mile and points world, but I also wanted to write about some great cash back bonuses. There are a few cash back sites that are offering a bonus by simply signing up through a referral. So if you are looking to do a bunch of online shopping over the Thanksgiving and holiday timeframe, this might be a great way to maximize the amount you earn off your purchases.
- TopCashBack: Both the referrer and the referee earn a $10 bonus. While the new member will get the bonus for simply signing up, the referrer will not receive the bonus until the person being referred earns at least $10 in cash back. TopCashBack also allows every member in the household to have their own TopCashBack account. So feel free to refer your spouse, partner, children, parents, etc. and it can be a win-win for the entire household. - BeFrugal: While the person being referred earns a $10 bonus, the referrer gets a $20 bonus for each eligible referral! This is a nice win-win for both people. This offer goes through December 31, 2014, so you have time to invite all your friends via email, word of mouth, and social media. Similar to the above promotion, the person being referred gets the sign up bonus just for creating an account, but the referrer will not get the bonus until their referral earns $25 in cash back within 90 days of account creation. To earn that much cash back you need to be shopping a decent amount online. If you assume an average of 4% cash back, that means over $600 in purchases in 3 months. - Ebates: While there is no referral bonus for a new member signing up, there is a nice offer for those wanting to refer others. You’ll earn a $20 bonus after your first referral, $25 after your second, $30 after your third, and so on. So if you are big on social media try to get as many of your friends to sign up. Of course, Ebates is only worth it if their portal is paying the most cash back. And at times it does. Overall, a sign up bonus is nice, but still make sure you are getting the best payout for your online purchases. I usually start at the site EVRewards to compare payouts, but it is not always 100% accurate and doesn’t include TopCashBack.com.
