Deal Alert: Fly from Philly to Vegas for $75 Roundtrip

US Airways is currently offering ridiculously cheap fares between Philly and Vegas (and vise versa) for as low as $75 roundtrip! Fares seem to be available in January and early February, but availability is now limited as these fares have apparently been available throughout the entire night. Remember, you can book now and cancel tomorrow with US Airways.

Flights with same day return are pricing out at $75 (mileage run opportunity).

US Airways Mileage Run

And flights where you actually want to stay a few days are pricing out at $81.

US Airways Mileage RunNow, via Running with Miles, this is a great mileage run opportunity (as mentioned above) to take advantage of the US Airways Status Challenge that I wrote about a few weeks ago. All you have to do is pay $200 to sign up for the Silver status and take 7 mileage runs (roundtrip) and the status is yours! This will give you US Airways Chairman status – their highest status level. These 7 mileage runs will get you the required 30,000 miles needed for the challenge and will cost you $525. You’ll also pay $200 for the challenge, thus costing you only $725 for top tier status which is awesome. You will also get a 25% bonus on miles earned (since you’ll have Silver status) by purchasing it in advance.

The real benefit here is that eventually this status will turn into American Airline Executive Platinum status which is an AWESOME status to have. By having Chairmans status you’ll get complimentary upgrades on both American Airlines and US Airways operated flights. Eventually, the status will turn into Executive Platinum status you’ll get two continue to get complimentary upgrades on American Airlines (when US Airways is no longer around). Executive Platinum status gives you a 100% bonus on  all eligible flights, same day standby, three complimentary checked bags, waived award reinstatement fees, etc.

My FAVORITE benefit, however, is the 8 systemwide upgrades. They are worth at least $1,600 (friends have given me $200-$250 each, although keep in mind that selling them is against American’s terms and if caught they can take them all away from you), but many folks will get WAY more value out of them by using them on a flight that could have otherwise cost $2,000+. So if you do the above mileage run for less than $800ish in TOTAL, you could make out big time. You’l also get 2 international upgrades from US Airways, although they have a shorter expiration date and cannot be given to friends unless they are on the same flight itinerary. So even if you break even, you are still getting all of the benefits of a top level status member for quite some time.

This will give you top level status through February 29, 2016.

Thanks to Dans Deals for sharing this ridiculously cheap fare!
