Another Best Buy Amex Offers Deal… But Very Targeted

Last month I wrote about a great way to save some money at Best Buy by syncing your Amex card to the Amex Offers Twitter deal (#AmexBestBuy) and getting a $25 statement credit on a $250+ purchase. Some Best Buy locations even sell Amazon and Visa gift cards, so there is some flexibility to save money elsewhere.

Well, to stack on the savings, a reader commented a few days ago letting me know that there was another Amex Best Buy deal, but only for targeted accounts. With this offer you will get a $30 statement credit with a $300+ purchase. This offer is via registration only (not your Amex “Offers For You” tab or Twitter). The only way to know if you are eligible is to enter all of your American Express credit card numbers. Unfortunately, I received a big fat “Sorry. Unfortunately this campaign is by invitation only” message on all of my Amex cards.

If you are eligible for this offer, you should be able to make a $300 purchase and get back both the $30 from this registration offer and the $25 for the previous offer I wrote about. That is a nice 18% savings at Best Buy!

This offer is valid for purchases between December 1 and December 31, 2014, however, you must register for the offer first. This is valid for in-store purchases only in the US and Puerto Rico.

Were you targeted?!

  1. I was not targeted, but I did get the Card Member Exclusive: Spend $150, Get $30 e-mail for other electronics stores (besides Best Buy).

I’m curious if this targeted deal would stack with the #AmexBestBuy deal.

    • @Bryce – Can you use the $150+, get $30 offer at Best Buy? If so, then it should definitely stack for a $250 or more purchase.

  2. @dealswelike No. Only good for:
    •Sage Software
    •Tiger Direct

  3. Is the Amex card registration web site safe to enter our card details? Will we get any sort of email or confirmation on whether the card entered is eligible for the $30 off $300 offer? Thanks for the help

  4. 7 of our 12 cards were eligible. Our 2 Everyday cards, 2 bluebirds and 1 Serve were not. Already picked up 3 X $200 in Visa GCs across 2 SPG Amex. An easy $42.15 profit ($60-$17.85).

    Thanks for the info!!!

  5. I didn’t have any of my 12 cards qualify. But does anyone have any data points on the following T&Cs I found in the AMex offer:
“In addition, in most cases, you will not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it.”

I wonder how this will ipact the ability to use ApplePay and other 3rd party payment to get Amex sync credits. Also anyone have any experience with Apple Pay and if bonus category points work, ie: grocery bonus with Amex Everyday prefferred at Whole Foods, or even not with Amex using Apple Pay at Staples with Chase Ink qualify for 5X?

I have not seen any bloggers rights about the potential impact of using Apple Pay.

  6. Are you sure that both offers are stackable. I registered my card for this offer after receiving the targeted mail and also i have already registered for the other offer. After making purchase of $325 i got only one mail confirming the use of my card. I did the transaction today so waiting for the CAsh back to post to my account.

My doubt is because of the confirmation mail.

    • @Gake – I did not personally take advantage of both as I wasn’t targeted for the $300 promo. However, you were given the opportunity to register for both so there is no reason it should not stack.
