New Benefits to the Citi Hilton HHonors Credit Card

I just received a notice in my mail that the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card is adding some pretty good benefits to the card. This is a no annual fee card so giving even more perk is awesome! This is by no means a card I use for every day spend, but got it awhile ago when I was staying at Hilton hotels often and since there is no fee I have no reason right now to cancel the card.

New benefits added:

  • Annual Loyalty Bonus: Every calendar year you can earn 10,000 Hilton HHonors bonus points when you spend $1,000+ on the card on Hilton stays (includes all hotels within the Hilton umbrella).
  • Gold status Upgrade: If you spend $20,000 ore more on the card in a calendar year, you’ll be upgraded to Gold status.

Personally these two new benefits aren’t life altering, but they are a nice add on. With the card you get automatic Silver status, but Gold status is MUCH better at Hilton. Hilton Gold status is actually one of the best mid-tier statuses as you are upgrade eligible, get free breakfast, and sometimes get lounge access. This new benefit is now the same as the no annual fee American Express Hilton credit card. Overall, the American Express Hilton card is much better as it has higher bonus categories and gives you access to 5th night free and AXON awards, where the Citi Hilton card only gives you access to 5th night free awards. The Amex Hilton also gives you access to Amex Offers! Although with the Amex version of the card, you will not get that 10,000 bonus points if you stay at Hilton hotels and put $1,000 on the card.

While I need to update the chart with these new benefits, you can see a comparison of all the Hilton credit cards here.

  1. Just received the notice in the mail. Good news. Haven’t used the card in awhile, but I will now toss $1,000 in qualifying spend to get the 10,000 bonus, each year, and then go back to my Hilton Reserve card.

  2. Definitely a nice incentive. Essentially gives you an addition 10 points/dollar if you can make 1000$ in Hilton spend a year
