If you keep up with this blog you probably already know that I LOVE the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass. It allows another person to fly with you for free an unlimited number of times during the lifespan of the pass. There are no blackout dates, no capacity controlled, no exclusions, etc. As long as there is a seat available it is your and you only pay the applicable taxes. It is ultimately my favorite perk in the entire travel industry. You can learn more about the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass here.

Typically, the easiest way to earn the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass is to apply for one (or two) Southwest Airlines credit cards, but for a limited time there is another pretty easy opportunity. The main issue is that it is limited to those with an Atlanta address. With that being said, if you do not yet have a Southwest account you can create one with an Atlanta address.

Southwest Companion Pass Atlanta

Southwest Airlines is attempting to take over the Delta market in Atlanta and are offering folks a great opportunity where they can take three roundtrip flights and they will earn the Companion Pass. Typically it requires you to earn 110,000 qualifying points which requires about $18,000 in flights on Southwest during the year. With this promotion you can take three cheap flights and be handed the pass which is amazing. I value the Companion Pass so highly that I would even recommend going out of your way and embarking on three different mileage runs. Find the three cheapest flights you can found out of Atlanta and you are good to go. This can easily be completed for less than $300. Even if you don’t actually live in Atlanta but are able to have an Atlanta address, it still could be worth it to pay for a positioning flight to Atlanta and do a few straight days of mileage runs.

To take advantage of this promotion you must FIRST register for this promotion here. You then must complete the three roundtrip flights between now and May 17, 2015. This gives you more than enough time to complete the three flights. Once

Some things to know:

  • You must FIRST register for this promotion here.
  • Reservations made prior to registering DO NOT count, but if the flight has not changed in price you can cancel and rebook for no fee
  • Complete the three roundtrip flights between now and May 17, 2015
  • You must have a valid Atlanta zip code (eligible zip codes here) – you must have had this address as of 2/5/15
  • Must be a revenue flight (flights using points do not count)
  • Travel must originate from and return to Hartfield-Jackson International Airport

If you are able to complete this promotion, the companion pass will be valid through December 31, 2015. This is a shorter timeframe than you typically earn the companion pass for. If you earn it the “hard” way, you would earn it for the remainder of the calendar year plus the entire following calendar year thus bringing you to December 31, 2016.

Thanks to MJ on Travel for sharing this promotion!

Is there any speculation as to whether Southwest will offer this Atlanta promotion again in 2016?
