A few months ago Uber launched a new way to save money on your taxi by using UberPool. Essentially, it is an option that allows you to share your taxi ride with another Uber user on a similar route. If you are ultimately matched with another passenger then you will save money! It is a great option for those with some flexibility and can wait a few extra minutes to get to their destination. Although, for ride sharing in NYC, Via is by far my ultimate favorite.

Now, for those looking to go to/from JFK airport you can use UberPool and pay a flat rate of $36. The best part about this is even if they do not match you with another passenger, you are still paying the lower rate.

A $36 cab ride to or from JFK from Manhattan is beyond cheap. Especially when the tip is backed into the price! You are, however, responsible with any tolls on the route, but if you use the 59th street bridge you are free of any additional costs! With the current Uber sign up offer for new customers (which ends today), you can get a free ride up to $30 which can be used towards a ride to/from the airport leaving you with just a $6 balance! This sign up bonus is a limited time offer which expires February 16, 2015 – you can sign up here (this is my referral link, thank you in advance for those that sign up!).

Unfortunately, this $36 is considered a promotion, so you can’t use your $30 referral credit with it, at least not when I tried this weekend, but still for $36 to JFK it’s a great deal!
