Last Day to Book with US Airways Miles!

Today is officially the last day to use your US Airways Dividend Miles to redeem for a free flight with their own award chart. There will then be a few days lag until March 28 when your US Airways miles are officially transferred over to your American Airlines account.

There are some nice sweet spots in the US Airways award chart so if you are looking to take advantage of any of these redemption options make sure to do so today! And ensure that your flight is actually ticketed by end of day today! Remember, when redeeming your US Airways miles you need to book a roundtrip flight, but you are allowed a free stopover. This allows you to do a three-legged-flight for the cost of a roundtrip! For example, you can fly roundtrip from the US to Asia and stop in Europe for a few days if you so desire! Although you will need to spoon feed your exact itinerary to an agent to hopefully get it booked. And for those that have the US Airways credit card, you receive a 5,000 mile discount. So even for US domestic flights this could be worthwhile. Keep in mind though this is only for US Airways operated flights, no partner flights.

Here are some of the sweet spots:

  • Fly from North America to Hong Kong (or another North Asia city) for 120,000 miles in First Class
  • Fly from the US to Sydney (or another South Pacific city) for 110,000 miles in Business Class
  • Fly between the US or Canada to the Caribbean during their off-peak award dates – 25,000 miles roundtrip in Economy or 50,000 miles roundtrip in Business/First Class (available September 1-30, 2015)

If you prefer to book one-way awards then once your US Airways miles transfer over to American Airlines AAdvantage than you will be able to do just that.

Anyone book any last minute flights today with their US Airways miles?

    • @Charles – While I meant to write 2016, I am not realizing that no off-peak awards are listed for Europe this fall since the award chart is going away. The only off-peak awards still available for reservations are the Caribbean.
