Back in February I wrote about Hilton’s new promotion where you could select to earn double points or double miles on all eligible hotel stays. This promotion was slated to end yesterday May 31st, but instead is being extended until August 31, 2015.

Hilton PromotionThe best thing about this promotion is that ALL hotels are participating between June 1 and August 31. Previously, hotels were allowed to opt-out, but not this time! This is great as in the past there was an incredibly long list of non-participating properties which was quite frustrating. Even if you were registered for this promotion previously, I do believe you will need to register again. You will also be able to change your selection to points or miles if you desire.

For the average person, I’d recommend earning points. For those that prefer to earn miles, you need to ensure that you select “Points + Miles” as your earning preference (related blog post on double dipping with points + miles). Miles is great if you do not stay at Hilton properties often and will not accrue enough over time to redeem for a free night.

As with any promotion, you will only get the double points/miles for eligible stays. This means that it must be a paid reservations booked directly with Hilton, not those using a third party booking reservation system (i.e., Hotels.com, Travelocity, etc.).

Enjoy!
