Tomorrow’s Daily Getaway promotion (Week 3, Day 5) is offering the opportunity to purchase Hertz points at a discount. Unfortunately, the availability is extremely limited, again.
- 5,500 Hertz Gold Rewards Plus points for $250 (45 available)
- 13,000 Hertz Gold Rewards Plus points for $560 (35 available)
- 16,500 Hertz Gold Rewards Plus points for $698 (50 available)
While these packages can be a good value the quantities are extremely limited making this deal close to pointless. There will be way more then 130 people looking to purchase this deal! I personally am not even going to waste my time with this one, but for those first 130 people purchasing these packages will most likely be a cost savings for the future.
For example, a free one day weekend rental typically requires 550 points. You can look at the awards chart here. By purchasing points through this sale, that one day rental will essentially cost you about $25. If you can typically get a car rental for less than this, then this is not the deal for you. If you are looking at renting a car in an expensive location or time period, then this can work out – think about ski vacations or during the holiday time. Also, with multiple day rentals the cost per day goes down as you get a little break. This is for a standard reservation only. An “anytime” reservation will cost you double when there are blackout dates or peak time periods.
Before purchasing the points, you must have a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member number. If you’re not already a member, you can sign up here. Hertz points do not expire, however, you must keep your account activate every 24 months.
This deal will go on sale at 1pm EST TODAY April 22, 2016. As I mentioned above, these packages will sell out within a second. While I will not be wasting my time due to the limited packages, if you want to test your luck I suggest getting your computer out a few minutes prior and continuously refreshing your browser.
