$20 Money Maker Opportunity + Free Sam’s Club Membership

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

I wrote about a free Sam’s Club Membership opportunity a few weeks ago (thank you Amex Offers!), but the deal got even better! With this Amex Offer, if you spend $45 on a Sam’s Club Membership with your registered Amex credit card (assuming you were targeted – most were), you’ll receive a $45 statement credit. Do the math and that equals a free year long membership. This statement credit is for in-store membership purchases only. Although some readers have reported that they received the statement credit by purchasing a membership online as well.

Make an Extra $20!

Sam’s Club is offering a $20 bonus to those that sign up for a membership through September 5th. This is IN ADDITION to the Amex Offer statement credit you’ll receive. Additionally, if you purchase the regular $45 membership, you should be upgraded to the Sam’s Club Plus membership (per the terms of this deal). It is, however, limited to the first 10,000 people. You’ll also receive $100 worth of other items in-store. Make sure to enter your email address in the link and you’ll receive an email with a code to redeem the offer in-store. This will then allow you to combine with the $45 statement credit offer above.

Everyone Should Join!

Even if you aren’t into shopping at Sam’s Club, you might as well join just to make the $20 profit. And remember, you can have multiple family members sign up to receive their own membership as long as you’ve been targeted on enough American Express credit cards. The only reason not to join is if you don’t live close by to a Sam’s Club. You can sign up for a Sam’s Club Membership here.

  1. I clicked on the link in your article and signed up for a new account but Amex says online signup doesn’t qualify and pointed me to the terms which say:

“Enrollment is limited. Valid only on a new Sam’s Club Membership (Savings, Business or Plus) purchased in-Club at a Sam’s Club location in the 50 U.S. states and not valid on memberships purchased online or by phone”

You have to sign up in a club, not online through your link above. Just spent $45 I didn’t want to spend since I already have a Costco membership.

    • The article here clearly mentions that it must be done in-store unless it was recently updated to include that wording. Either way, you should read carefully of all the terms before signing up for anything. In this case, AMEX terms should have told you the info you needed and prevented you from signing up online.

With that said, did you try calling Sam’s Club to see if it can be cancelled? Some stores allow cancellation and full refund within a 30 day period.

      • You’re right. I should have read the fine print in the terms but I assumed since the article included 2 links to sign up online that it would work. The article should have mentioned it’s in store only and not include the links to sign up online.

        • The article does mention in-store purchase in the very first paragraph (last sentence). The link was provided in the second paragraph and even there, it mentions to redeem in-store. The link was provided so you can get the code via email, not to register for the membership. You get the code and redeem it in-store to get the extra bonus items. I don’t think it’s required for the statement credit but it’s free.

I suggest that you call up Sam’s Club if you haven’t done so already and tell them you signed up by mistake. Worth a call since it sounds like you don’t plan on shopping there much. I signed up for a similar deal in the past when I was working out of state that was near a Sam’s Club. Signed up mainly to get a bunch of gift card fees waived online and got some free items in the store along the way.

          • The T&C stating in-store purchase was added an hour or so after writing the post. With that being said, a few readers have reported receiving the statement credit for purchasing a Sam’s Club membership online.

        • @Larry – A few readers said they received the statement credit for online membership purchase. Let me know if it worked for you.
