IHG just formed a partnership with the Fuel Rewards program which means everyone can save money on gas!. With this program, IHG Rewards Club members (at any level) can save money every time they fill their tank at participating Shell stations. You can sign up for a Fuel Rewards account here. It’s by no means a huge bonus, but every little bit of savings on gas helps, right?!
The savings will depend on your status with IHG:
- 5 cents per gallon everyday savings for Club and Gold Elite members
- 6 cents per gallon everyday savings for Platinum Elite members (the IHG credit card gives you automatic Platinum status!)
- 7 cents per gallon everyday savings for Spire Elite
To save at the pump, you’ll need to first link your IHG account to the Fuel Rewards program. If you are not already a Fuel Rewards number you can create an account during the process or create an account first here through a referral link.
For those that typically fill up at a Shell station, this is a great way to save some extra money. I personally think Shell stations are slightly more expensive then some other gas stations, but they are sometimes the most convenient for me. While I’ve never used this program before, the sign up process took me about 30 seconds and it seems quite easy. For those that have big tanks, your savings are limited to 20 gallons of fuel per purchase per vehicle.
All you do is swipe your Fuel Rewards card or enter your ID (which is your phone number). You can then pay with any credit card you want! You can even pay with a Shell gift card – they are available at Office Supply stores where you can earn 5x points when using many credit cards as well!

Thanks for this, I use fuel rewards at shell all the time because it is most convenient for me so now I can get a lil extra off my gas. I also buy the gift cards from OM/OD to get 5x so works for me!

Appreciate the heads up. Shell is my go-to gas station as they to be reasonably priced around here and I tend to stock up on their GCs during AMEX promos.
