A few days ago I wrote about the travel based app, JetSmarter, that allows you to book last minute empty seats on a private plane that would otherwise go unoccupied. They are currently running a promotion where they are giving out a free 3 month membership to those that have 1 million frequent flier miles in a single program or top tier status! All you have to do is submit proof and you’ll be upgraded to their “Simple Membershipâ€. Surprisingly, only a few days later I heard back from that that my JetSmarter Membership has been activated.

Unfortunately though, to actually get the “Simple” membership activated, you have to have a phone call with them. It looks like it is only a 15 minute phone call, but the first available appointment is on June 28th!!! So while I guess my membership is theoretically activated, it really won’t be available to use for almost 3 weeks!

If you qualify for this promotion, I suggest you submit your proof ASAP. Since my account isn’t updated with the correct membership, I cannot actually see what flights are available for free. Come the end of June, I’ll be excited to play around and see what free flights I can actually snag (if any) from Boston. Although, my current lifestyle with two young kids doesn’t actually allow me to just get away on a whim! But you never know!

Feel free to comment below with any experience you have with JetSmarter’s “simple” membership.

I submitted my AA EXP and million mile proof on Sunday. Still nothing yet.
I actually would consider paying the $5,000 for the membership.

They are liars and crooks…typical bait and switch. They said the promotion was until July 1, then stopped honoring qualified applicants. What a joke of a promotion.
