If you are looking to test drive some cars (or have some spare time and looking to make some free money), Hyundai, Volvo, and Subaru are all offering an opportnity to get a free gift card simply for test driving – no purchase necessary. The Hyundai promotion has been going on for quite some time (which I wrote about here) and you can get a $40 gift card to Target, Amazon, or Visa. The Volvo promotion just launched and you can get a $50 gift card to Amazon, Nordstrom, or Visa (Volvo promo experiences via Slickdeals). And the Subaru promotion is offering a $25 Visa gift card.
Go to the Hyundai site, enter your zip code, and click “View Inventory”. Give the site a few seconds to load and the screen shot below should appear. If it doesn’t, then that Hyundai dealership is not participating in the promotion. Make sure to fill out the form properly. No purchase necessary. You are also limited to one coupon redemption per household per 6 months. So if you have taken advantage one of the previous offers, unfortunately you cannot take advantage this time around.
Go to the Volvo site, enter your zip code, and click “Show Website” for the local dealership. Click the “New Inventory” link and the screen show below should appear. Follow the promotional directions.
Go to the Subaru site, enter your zip code, and click “Show Website” for the local dealership. Click the “New Subaru” –> “All New Subaru” link and the screen shot below should appear. Follow the promotional directions. If the promotion doesn’t appear then that dealership is not participating.
Unfortunately, many dealerships do not even know what to do with these promotional codes that you bring in when you go to test drive the car. Many readers have taken advantage of these offers in the past, and I’d say it was a 50/50 success rate. Many received the gift card (and didn’t even have to test drive the car and they were in and out within minutes), while others had managers give them a hard time and would not honor the gift card promotion. This is a 100% legit offer, it is just that some dealerships are either unaware or do not want to hand out a gift card to those not actually interested in buying a car. Also, if you plan on taking advantage of multiple offers, I suggest just using a different email address for each dealership.
