Earlier this month, a new Amex Offer was launched where you will receive a $25 statement credit on a $125+ purchase at Jet.com. This offer expires July 31, 2017 so you only have another week to take advantage. While this is a great offer for those that make purchases on Jet.com often, it might also be a good opportunity to purchase another merchants gift card at a discount. Jet.com sells a ton of other merchant gift cards!
So when this offer was launched, I went ahead and purchased a $125 gift card from Whole Foods through the Jet.com site. While it sat in a pending status for longer then usual, I finally received the gift cards in the mail and saw the charge on my credit card online account.
Even though I purchase another merchants gift card, it posted as a Jet.com purchase. So in theory I should receive the statement credit, but nothing has appeared yet. While Amex Offers does state it could take 90 days to receive the credit, I typically (actually always!) see the credit in just a few days. I also usually receive an email letting me know that I triggered the Amex Offer almost immediately after the purchase goes through. I never received the email for this offer.
I initiated a conversation with Amex through their chat feature to see what was going on. Ultimately, they confirmed that I made an eligible purchase and I will see the statement credit eventually.
I do have my doubts that the statement credit will automatically post, but I hope I am wrong! Although I know I will eventually receive the statement credit by just engaging with Amex chat again (in October). So as of right now, I am not 100% sure that gift card purchases will trigger the statement credit. Feel free to share your experience below if you’ve taken advantage of this offer!
