Today’s Daily Getaway promotion is offering the opportunity to purchase Choice Privileges points at a discount. Unfortunately this deal is slightly more expensive then last year, but there are a ton of more quantities available (over 6,000 quantities available!).

Today’s Daily Getaway gives four purchasing options:

  • 14,000 Choice Privileges points for $80 (.57 cents per point)
  • 28,000 Choice Privileges points for $144 (.51 cents per point)
  • 42,000 Choice Privileges points for $205 (.49 cents per point)
  • 55,000 Choice Privileges points for $265 (.48 cents per point)

So with this Daily Getaway option you can purchase Choice Privilege points at a pretty good discount. You are allowed to purchase 2 sets of each offer per account, so in theory you can purchase 278,000 points per account (since there are a total of 4 different offers, you can purchase a total of 8). Since so many quantities, the chance of purchasing this deal are high, but no guarantee. There are two reasons to purchase these points:

  1. Redeem for Choice Hotels at a discount
  2. Transfer your points to a partnering airline

For #1, do the math to see if purchasing the required points to redeem for a particular hotel is less then paying the lowest rate directly at the hotel.

For #2, most people jumped on this opportunity in the past to purchase points and then transfer them to Southwest. This is NO longer a good option. Over a year ago, Southwest stopping allowing transferred hotel points to count towards the Southwest companion pass. If you are looking to transfer them to another airline program, it has limited value. The transfer rate is 5,000 points = 1,000 miles, so still not a great value, but you can always do the math to see if it makes sense (but probably not!).

This deal will go on sale at 1pm EST TODAY Tuesday April 10, 2018.
