Purchase Hilton Points at a Discount with Daily Getaways

Today’s Daily Getaway promotion is offering the opportunity to purchase Hilton Honors points at a discount. There aren’t a ton available, but I am not confident this is actually a great deal for most people. The pricing is also slightly more expensive then last year.

With this offer you can get:

  • 100,000 points for $500; cost = .5 cents/point (275 available)
  • 30,000 points for $150; cost = .5 cents/point (450 available)
  • 250,000 points for $1,250; cost = .5 cents/point  (220 available)

With these three packages you are purchasing points at .5 cents per point (last year they cost slightly less at .48 cents per point). This offer is good for some, but I definitely do not suggest purchasing points speculatively, especially with Hilton. I suggest checking out to see if the cost of purchasing points for a redemption is cheaper then paying cash at the hotel. And remember, Hilton completely changed their award redemption last year where the amount of points required is tied to the cost of the hotel (although not a fixed rate).

Also, if you have Hilton status (those with Silver, Gold, or Diamond status) get the 5th night free on an award redemptions. You can learn more about earning status from this prior blog post – all Hilton credit cards also give you status as long as you are a cardmember!

I will personally be sitting this one out. I do not have a specific need for Hilton points and I am really not looking to collect more. But for those that have a specific need and the math works should definitely look into the deal.

This deal will go on sale at 1pm EST TODAY Monday April 16, 2018. I do believe this deal will go that fast due to the limited amount available so if you want to grab this offer I suggest getting on your computer prior to the offer being available and having all your information available (i.e., your Hilton loyalty number).

  1. I just worked it out, and yes, it’s small fry for Hilton in terms of how much they rake in every day but with these 3 promos all sold out, it adds up to a stunning $480,000 for nothing.
