Last week I wrote about a new Hyatt promotion where you’ll receive a 10% rebate on all points redeemed for the month of August and September. This is a great way to save some points, although it is an exclusive promotion where you must have the Hyatt credit card. There were many questions about this promotion, so I reached out to my Hyatt contact to get the exact answers. Here is everything you need to know about the promotion!

1. If I do not currently have the Hyatt credit card, but apply now, will I qualify for this promotion?

Yes! As long as you are a cardmember by August 31st and register by this date, you are eligible. You can learn more about the new Hyatt credit card 60,000 point offer and benefits in this prior blog postClick here to get more details on this card and to compare to other hotel credit cards!

2. Will Guest of Honor reservations count?

Yes! If you are making a point reservation for someone else using the Guest of Honor benefit, you’ll still receive the 10% bonus back! Guest of Honor allows Globalist to book a point reservation for someone else and that reservation will still receive all the benefits of being Globlist.

3. Will reservations already made count for the promotion?

Yes! As long as the reservation is between the eligible dates, you’ll still receive the 10% rebate regardless of when you actually booked your stay.

4. If I have a stay that starts in July and goes through August, will that reservation be eligible for the rebate?

Sort of! Even though it is one reservation, only the dates in August (not July) will be eligible for the 10% rebate. So if you have a stay that goes from July 29 through August 4, for example, only the points redeemed from August 1-4 will receive the 10% rebate.

5. If I have a stay that starts in September, but I am checking out in October, will the nights in September still qualify for the rebate?

Unfortunately no! Your checkout date must be by September 30th for your entire reservation will count. If you are in that situation I suggest making two separate reservations. One for the nights that are in September and then another reservation starting September 30 through the dates you are actually staying till.

As I mentioned above, this is a great promotion to save some points on an upcoming stay. They seem to run this promotion every year, although the timing is always different. Hopefully this will continue to be an annual promotion!

    • @TM – That is typically when earning points, they will combine separate stays. But when you are redeeming points, it should show the separation, but I will double check with my Hyatt contact for sure.
