New Marriott Amex Offer – Save an Easy $60 on Your Next Stay

A new Amex Offer just appeared this morning where if you spend $300 at a Marriott hotel, you’ll receive a $60 statement credit. I am able to see this offer on every single one of my American Express credit cards, so hopefully it is widely available – just check your AmericanExpress.com to see if you are eligible (and to register). This offer expires October 25, 2018 and unfortunately due to the new restrictions put in place, you might only be able to advantage of this offer once per account.

The great thing about this offer is that almost all hotels in the Marriott chain are included in the US and U.S. territories. This includes: JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Delta Hotels, Gaylord Hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites and Moxy Hotels. It excludes: The Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari, Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott Vacation Club, Protea, and all Starwood Hotels.

Remember, for the statement credit to trigger, you must book directly with Marriott. The charge also must hit your credit card by October 25, 2018. So a pre-paid stay made prior to this date, but for a stay after this date should trigger. Or, if you have a stay that goes through this date ask the front desk if they can split up your stay and charge you for some of the rooms prior to check out. Also, if you are using points for your stay you can still take advantage of this offer with any incidental charges paid to your room. As long as you put any other charges on your bill, for example, on-site restaurants, activities, drinks at the bar, etc. it will still trigger the statement credit (as long as you are spending $300+ on incidentals).

  1. I’ve got the offer but my next Marriott stay starts on 10/25. If I ask the hotel to go ahead and charge the full amount to my card at checkin, will they do it? And will the fact that it doesn’t move from pending to posted for a few more days (post offer) have any negative affect?

    • @Beck – Always worth asking the hotel. Pending vs posting doesn’t matter as long as the transaction shows as that date.

    • @Nellcat – Typically offers say “in a single transaction” or “multiple transactions”. This one doesn’t say anything and in the past I found that when it doesn’t say anything it usually works amongst multiple transactions, so it should work if you put both stays on the same registered card.

  2. Seems like the offer just disappeared… that’s unbelievable that they can do that. You plan your hotel stay around this deal and then it is just gone and you don’t even realize it. So crazy.
