Last month, an awesome Amex Offer surfaced where if you spend $200 or more on a JetBlue flight, you’ll receive a $40 statement credit. While this offer expires November 20th, that means you do not actually have to fly by this date, you just need to book your ticket by then. This is by far one of the better offers that pertain to most travelers. You just need to check your AmericanExpress.com account to see if you are eligible (this offer seems to be widely available) and then register.

If you do not actually have a JetBlue flight to book, here are some tricks to still receive the statement credit:

1. Find someone else who is flying JetBlue

As long as the flight is booked with your American Express credit card, it will trigger the statement credit It does not matter whose name is on the reservation! You can even offer to split the statement credit between you and the other person, so it is a win-win all around!

This offer is only valid for JetBlue flights booked through JetBlue directly where your flight originates in the US/US territory. Your total purchase must equal $200 or more, which can include multiple reservations, bag fees, etc.

2. If you have Mosaic status, book any flight, then cancel!

One of the best perks of having Mosaic status is that you can cancel a flight with absolutely no fee. The amount paid goes into your travel bank and you have a year to use it. You can also use the credits on a flight for anyone, the names do not need to match. So go find a $200 flight on the nose, and cancel the flight later on. Ultimately you will have paid $160 for $200 in credits to use at a future time.

Keep in mind that the credits expire one year from the date they are issued. So book a flight as far out as possible and do not cancel until a few days prior to the flight is supposed to depart. You’ll then have one year to use the credits from the day you cancel the flight. Just remember though, you must have Mosaic status when you cancel the flight, doesn’t matter if you had Mosaic status when you booked the flight.

3. If you are booking on points, the taxes/fees will still trigger the statement credit.

If you are flying outside of the US, the taxes and fees can sometimes really add up on a “free” flight reservation when using points. If you use your registered American Express credit card to pay for the taxes/fees and they are $200 or more, you’ll still receive that $40 statement credit!

Have you taken advantage of your JetBlue Amex Offer yet? Make sure to fully maximize your savings!
