An Amazing Return on Purchasing Gift Cards at CVS with Dosh!

UPDATE: Dosh has updated the terms of the promotion to only allow you to earn $20 cash back per day. You can still make money on this promotion, just not as much!

I’ve written about the app Dosh many times in the past as it is an easy way to earn money back on your every day purchases. Once you download the app, you’ll link your credit cards (I personally linked all the cards I use) and every time your linked card is used at a participating merchant you’ll receive cash back. Unlike some other apps, you do not need to activate an offer, use a promo code, scan your receipt, or really do anything. Just go about your normal purchases and viola – cash back will eventually appear.

Earn 5% Cash Back at CVS!

This week only, although I’d be shocked if it lasts all week and isn’t pulled earlier, there is an offer to receive 5% cash back at CVS. While this is great for those making their everyday purchases at CVS, it is also a great way to receive 5% back on gift card purchases! CVS sells a ton of other merchant gift cards as well as Visa gift cards! So let’s say you purchase a $500 Visa gift card (plus $4.95 activation fee), that will give you $25.24 back through the app! This is an amazing way to actually make money! After taking into consideration the fee, you’ll make about $20 in profit!

It looks like Points with a Crew already visited his local CVS and gift card purchases did trigger the cash back! Although, fingers crossed that Dosh actually pays the full amount and doesn’t close accounts – we have seen this happen in the past with other apps.

This is definitely scalable as you can purchase up to $2,000 in gift cards per day at CVS per drivers license. Let’s say you go all in with the $2,000 per day, that will net you a $100 profit per day! And you can even rope in other members of your family too. Times that by the number of days you are able to maximize your purchases and this is some significant profit!

Just remember, you need to have a place to liquidate your Visa gift cards!

New Members Get $5 Bonus!

Just by downloading the app and linking just one credit card, you’ll automatically receive $5 in your account – $5 for downloading. You can then make a few extra bucks by linking a few more cards. So even if you do not want to participate in the CVS deal, this is still an easy way to earn some extra money for free – for doing close to nothing!

My Experience

I use Dosh quite often as I think of it as just easy money in my pocket without having to really think about it. Many restaurants in my town give 5-7% cash back, so as long as I use a card that is linked to my account, that is free cash. And since this is cash back, you can combine this with any other promotion you run across – i.e., in-store/restaurant coupon, Amex Offer, bonus points/miles, etc. Also, getting your cash back is quite easy. Once you’ve hit a minimum of $15, you can request to be paid. They will transfer funds either to your bank account or PayPal. The app is extremely user friendly!

Comments

  1. This is exactly why these deals die so quickly and also risk closure of the account. I am very tempted but will stay away from it.

  2. The maximum cash back is only $20 which changes assumptions on potential earnings opportunities. DOSH handles cashback at Sam’s Club the same way…max cashback is $20 per day (24hrs). The maximum information is found under the “read more” section

  3. I suspect Dosh has some transaction cut-off level above which they don’t even log the transaction. A $500+ CVS transaction of mine hasn’t appeared but smaller purchases have appeared and paid. It’s not like the $500 appeared and they just capped the payout.
