Purchase Hyatt Points with a 30% Bonus

Through February 22, 2019, Hyatt is running a promotion where you can purchase points with a 30% bonus. While I never recommend purchasing points speculatively, with this promotion there are definitely some opportunities to save money for an upcoming stay. Of course, if you are in no dire need to purchase points right away, you might want to hold off and wait for a 40% bonus offer to pop up (fingers crossed).

Use your points to stay at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar!

Here are a few (of many) examples where purchasing points to redeem can be much cheaper then paying the lowest available rate at the hotel directly:

Example #1: Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica.

This is an awesome resort property in Costa Rica and is a category 4 hotel (which means 15,000 points to redeem for a free night). During peak season, this hotel can cost over $700/night! Instead you can purchase 47,000 points with a 14,100 bonus (thus netting you 61,100 points) for $1,128. You can then redeem 60,000 points for 4 free nights which nets out at $282/night. This is MUCH cheaper then the typical going rate! Also remember, when you use points you are not paying the taxes/fees on top of the lowest available rate!

I personally have yet to stay at this property, although it is on my short list of places to visited, but I have family and friends that have visited and said it is awesome! Another great category 4 option is the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Example #2: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

This high end property in the Maldives dropped from a category 7 to a 6 a few years ago, making it an amazing opportunity for those looking to redeem points! The average cost at this hotel is about $1,000 a night! With a high nightly cost, using points will essentially give you a 50% discount on two nights! You can purchase 39,000 points plus a 11,400 bonus and it will cost you $936. This will result in paying less then $500/night!

Overall…

Of course there are many other scenarios where purchasing points can actually be beneficial, but you’ll have to compare the hotel to the lowest available rate for your desired dates. You can purchase anywhere between 3,000 and 55,000 points to receive the 30% bonus. Purchase points here.
