This past summer, Hyatt announced their plans to partner with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH). At the time of the announcement it was still unknown on when the full integration would begin and if all properties would actually be part of Hyatt. It looks like we now have some answers though!

54 Properties to Start

Hyatt will start with introducing 54 properties into the Hyatt program where you’ll be able to earn and redeem points at these hotels starting December 6, 2018. As of right now, all of them are international destinations and range pretty much between 20,000 to 40,000 points a night. Yes, a new category 8 property is being added — not a good thing in my mind. Although only the SLH properties will move into that high level category, I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually see legacy Hyatt properties moving up as well.

There are some awesome properties in the group and if you are one that likes to travel in luxury, then I definitely suggest checking them out. Although at 40,000 points a night, I do not think you’ll ever see me checking into one of those properties. I also suggest making sure the point redemption is actually worth it. I saw a few properties costing about $350 during peak months costing a whopping 30,000 points. Getting about 1 cent per point out of my Hyatt points is definitely not a value where I redeem my points — I prefer to get 2 cents per point, if not more.

Hyatt states that more properties will be added before 2018 closes as well as throughout 2019. I am looking forward to see more properties at the list! Have you ever stayed at any of these properties? Will you be redeeming your Hyatt points at any of these 54 SLH properties?
