Just last week, American Airlines and World of Hyatt announced that their partnership is now live! This means you can earn bonus points and miles as well as reciprocal status.

American Airline Hyatt Partnership

American Airline & Hyatt Partnership

American Airlines Hyatt Partnership Bonus Points

Unfortunately, only those with status will be able to earn bonus points. If you have American Airlines status, you’ll earn bonus World of Hyatt points when staying at Hyatt properties and if you have World of Hyatt status you’ll earn bonus American Airline miles while flying American. You’ll need to link your two accounts to earn these extra points and miles

Earning bonus American Airline miles

If you have American Airline Gold status or higher, you’ll earn 1 bonus AAdvantage mile for every $1 spent on qualifying Hyatt stays and experiences.

Earning bonus Hyatt points

If you have World of Hyatt Discoverist status or higher, you’ll earn 1 bonus Hyatt point for every $1 spent on flights operated by American Airlines (flights booked on American but operated by another carrier will not count).

Earning Status

On top of earning bonus points and miles, you can potentially earn status with the other program with a fast track offer. Remember, if you are a business traveler you also might be eligible to earn Hyatt status by entering your email address and then use this to earn reciprocal American Airline status.

Earn Hyatt status

If you have AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro or Platinum status, you’ll have the opportunity to earn World of Hyatt status status.

You’ll have to register by October 1, 2019 and you’ll automatically receive Hyatt Explorist status for 90 days. During your fast track timeframe, you’ll need to complete 10 stays at any Hyatt property to maintain Explorist status through February 28, 2021. Some were also eligible to earn Globalist status through February 28, 2021 if they completed 20 stays. Your offer may vary depending on your current level with the two programs.

Now, if you have Concierge Key status with American, you’ll receive automatic Hyatt Globalist status.

I absolutely love having World of Hyatt Globalist status and it is the status my family is striving for this year.

Earn American Airline status

Unfortunately right now there isn’t a specific promotion for being able to earn American Airlines status, however. It seems like specific members have been receiving targeted emails over the past week with the opportunity for a fast track offer.

They suggest continuing to check your AAdvantage promotions page to see if any offers pop up.

Overall…

For those who are eligible, this is a great way to earn extra points and miles on activity you were taking part of anyway. As a World of Hyatt Globalist member and American Airline lifetime Gold member, this is great for me! On every American Airline flight I take, I’ll receive an extra Hyatt point and on every Hyatt hotel I stay at, I’ll receive an extra AAdvantage mile (per $1 spent). I have not yet been targeted to take advantage of an American Airlines fast track to status promotion, but I am really hoping something comes my way this year!

How does this partnership positively affect you? Enjoy your extra bonus points and miles.
