Two of the low cost carriers Southwest and JetBlue announced some pretty good fare sales this morning! If you have a flight you are looking to book, I highly suggest checking out these sites to see if there are any good deals for your travel needs. Remember, Southwest fares do not show up on third-party booking sites, i.e., Kayak.
Southwest is offering discounted fares for travel January 8, 2019 through March 22, 2019. This is a two-day sale so you must book by end of day tomorrow.
If you already have a Southwest flight booked for a flight that decreased in price, you can get back the difference with no change fees. You can read more about the exact process and steps to go about this with these two blog posts: “Changing and Canceling a Southwest Flight” and “If a Southwest Flight Goes Down in Price….” Essentially if you…
- Paid for the flight… You will receive a voucher for the difference in fare price to be used one year from the date the flight was originally purchased (NOT the date the change process took place). This voucher is non-transferable. The voucher will be tied to the confirmation number of the original flight. There is NO fee for this.
- Booked your flight using points… The difference in points will go back into your account immediately. This is why I love booking Southwest flights using points!
My favorite thing about Southwest is if you have points, you can book flights and if you need to cancel there are no fees at all! The points just go right back into the account they were booked from.
JetBlue $49 Sale
JetBlue is having a sale with flights starting at $49 one way. This is for travel January 16 through April 10, 2019. The sale states for Tuesday and Wednesday travel only, but I see some very favorable fares other days of the week too. This is a two-day sale as well, so you must book by tomorrow night.
Remember, you have 24 hours to cancel a flight after it is booked for a full refund if you want to “book now and figure it out later.” If your plans are flexible, use the JetBlue Fare Finder which will give you the cheapest price for every day of the month.
Already booked a flight and the price went down? Also, if you’ve booked a flight in the past 5 days and the fare price has decreased, give JetBlue a call and they’ll give you a credit voucher for the price difference. Or, if you are a JetBlue Mosaic member, you can cancel for free and apply the funds to the cheaper flight.
Anyone able to snag a cheap JetBlue or Southwest flight?
