UPDATE: This offer has expired and.

I just received an email letting me know that the limited time bonus offer for the Chase Freedom credit card is coming to an end on December 17, 2014.

With this offer you will get the following: 20,000 points after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening, plus you’ll earn a a 2,500 point bonus after you add your first authorized user and make a purchase within the same 3 month period. Normally, this offer only gives you 10,000 points after the same spend requirement and the same bonus if you add on an authorized user. So essentially this is doubling the bonus which is great, if you are in the market for this particular card.

Chase Freedom Credit Card

This no annual fee card gives you the same benefits as all Chase cards, but earns limited Chase Ultimate Reward points. That means you cannot transfer your points directly from a Chase Freedom account to a partner loyalty program (i.e., Hyatt, British Airways, United, Marriott, Southwest, etc.). However, if you have a “premier” Chase Ultimate Rewards account (such as the Chase Ink Bold, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Sapphire Preferred), you can transfer your Chase Freedom points directly to one of those accounts and then transfer your points to your desired partner loyalty program. If you just have the Chase Freedom account then you can redeem your points for cash back where 1 point = 1 cent cash back. So the 20,000 point sign up bonus gives you a minimum of $200 cash back.

With this card you earn 5x points on quarterly bonus categories. You can earn a total of 7,500 points per quarter at the participating merchants and then continue to earn 1 point per dollar spent. The bonus categories for 2015 have not been fully announced, but they have posted a sneak peak. In the first quarter for 2015 (January, February, and March), you’ll earn 5x points at Grocery Stores, Movie Theaters, and Starbucks. The “hot” category for the rest of the calendar year is:
