Today’s Daily Getaways limited time offer is Choice Hotel points at a discounted rate. The deal goes on sale starting at 12pm EST April 19, 2011. These discounted travel offers are limited and can potentially sell out fast, however, my assumption is that if interested you will be able to snag this deal (unlike the quick selling Hyatt offer). I posted two weeks ago about all the other travel deals American Express is giving away over the 5 week period. Additionally if you use ANY American Express credit card to purchase any of the deals, you will receive 10% off.
- 40,000 Choice Hotel points = $166 ($149.40 with AMEX) *best price per point offer
- 36,000 Choice Hotel points = $156 ($141.21 with AMEX)
- 32,000 Choice Hotel Points = $134 ($120.60 with AMEX)
I typically do not stay at any of the hotels part of this umbrella. They can be found in almost every city and suburban area, offer free continental breakfast, but are not your full service luxury resorts. For the most part, points range from 12K to 20K for a free night. What I did notice while playing around on their website was that their points program has partnered with some higher end hotels where you can now redeem your points. For 40K points you can redeem at some nice hotels that are part of the Preferred Hotel Group. They have full service hotels in major cities in the US and internationally, worth checking out. Additionally, starting April 5, 2011, you can redeem points for free nights at participating Barceló Hotels and Resorts. Barceló specializes in all-inclusive resorts in popular vacation destinations. During a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic a few years ago, I walked around the Barceló hotel and it was absolutely beautiful! Reward nights are available for 18,000 or 23,000 points, which includes the all-inclusive option at the hotel. $150 for a 2 night stay at an all-inclusive is a great deal! The only stipulation to redeeming with the Preferred Hotel Group and the Barceló is that the hotel can only be reserved 2-3 months in advance.
