Today’s Daily Getaway promotion (Week 1, Day 5) is offering the opportunity to purchase Hilton HHonors points at a discount. There aren’t a ton available, but I am not confident this is actually a great deal for most people.

Daily Getaways

With this offer you can get:

  • 100,000 Hilton HHonorsâ„¢ Bonus Points for $500 (160 available) = .5 cents a point
  • 150,000 Hilton HHonorsâ„¢ Bonus Points for $750 (200 available) = .5 cents a point
  • 250,000 Hilton HHonorsâ„¢ Bonus Points for $1,250 (200 available) = .5 cents a point

With these three packages you are purchasing points at .5 cents per point. This is the same price that this offer cost in in 2014, 2013, and 2012. And unfortunately, since 2012 Hilton has had a massive devaluation.

This offer is good for some, but I definitely do not suggest purchasing points speculatively. I suggest checking out to see if the cost of purchasing points for a redemption is cheaper then paying cash at the hotel. You can use this standard room pricing tool to see how many people a particular hotel will cost.

Also remember, if you have Hilton status (those with Silver, Gold, or Diamond status) get the 5th night free on an award redemptions. You can learn more about earning status from this prior blog post – all four Hilton credit cards also give you status as long as you are a cardmember!

I will personally be sitting this one out. I do not have a specific need for Hilton points and I am really not looking to collect more. But for those that have a specific need, goodluck!

This deal will go on sale at 1pm EST TODAY Friday March 27. I do believe this deal will go that fast due to the limited amount available so if you want to grab this offer I suggest getting on your computer prior to the offer being available and having all your information available (Amex credit card number and Hilton loyalty number).

American Express isn’t offering the 10% discount this year.
