In honor of National Savings Day Rakuten (formerly known as Ebates) is offering 12% cash back at many popular merchants for all your online shopping. If you have any shopping to do, today is the day to do it. Using an online shopping portal is an amazing way to get a deal on your purchases, especially when it involves a ton of cash back!
Some of the more popular 12% cash back merchants I saw include: JCPenney, eBags, The Container Store, Lands End, Backcountry, Dick’s Sporting Good Store, Gap Groupon, Saks Fifth Avenue, Shoes.com (15% cash back), and many more.
On the travel front, if you are looking to stay at an InterContinental,, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo or Choice property, you can get 12% back on your stay too!
How does a Ebates work?
I first want to preface it that going through an online shopping portal to earn cash back will take you an extra minute, if that. Ultimately, you go to the shopping portal first, but complete your online shopping through the merchants site directly. In the background, the purchase is tracked and you’ll get credit by going through Ebates.
- First, you go to Ebates.com. If you are not already a member, you’ll receive a $10 bonus after you spend $25 within the first 90 days of signing up. You must sign up through a referral link (thank you in advance for using mine, but feel free to post yours in the comments section!)
- Search for the store you are looking to make a purchase at and click the green “Search” button. You can also access all the increased cash back merchants here.
- Click the “Shop Now” button. Right above it you’ll see the current cash back listed.
- Ebates will then take you directly to the merchants site. For the example above, you will be taken directly to eBags.om as if you typed that in your web browser to begin with. There is absolutely no difference, but you are now getting 12% cash back on your entire purchase, which is amazing!!!
While many times I prefer to earn points and miles for my online shopping purchases, when there is a good cash back opportunity, I jump on the savings. While this isn’t the highest cash back offer we’ve ever seen (a few months ago we saw 20% cash back), receiving 12% cash back is still really good.
Best of all you can typically earn cash back when using a coupon. You just need to double check to see if the coupon is listed on the specific retailers site. TIP: If the coupon code is not there, then you do risk the chance of not receiving the cash back.
Enjoy your nice rebate on a purchase you were going to make anyways!
