WOW Air just officially announced their new service to Israel which will start September 12, 2017 and fly 4 times a week. As of right now, prices from the US are the following:
- Boston, New York, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Chicago starting at $149 one-way
- Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami starting at $199
These flights will require a layover in Rekjavik, Iceland where flights to Israel from the east coast will have approximately a 13 hour layover and flights on the return will have a 2 hour layover. This can give you the opportunity to explore Rekjavik for the day, or go to the Blue Lagoon. Of course, not ideal if you in a hurry to get to Israel and have no desire for a one day layover. Flights from the west coast are approximately a 4 hour layover each way, which isn’t too bad.
If you are able to snag one of the low priced fares then this is a great deal, but those dates are limited. Also, keep in mind that WOW Air is a low cost service which means you pay extra for everything – that includes checked bags, carry on bags, your seat assignment, etc.
A carry on beg and booking the cheapest seat possible will cost you at least $140 roundtrip (bag fees is priced out as one-way and seat types are priced per segment). Although if you pack light and don’t care about your seat, you can fly for cheap! Definitely price it out to see if flying WOW is actually cheaper then another airline where you do not pay extras.
