Hilton is one of the best when it comes to its mid-tier Gold level status. It is the one of the few programs where mid-tier elites will actually receive complimentary breakfast. And for me, that is huge! Not only is having Gold status extremely beneficial, it is one of the easiest statuses to earn. Of course you can earn status via the old fashion way by staying 40 nights, completing 20 stays, or earning 75,000 base points in a calendar year, but here are some ways you can earn it much easier!a screenshot of a photo of a beach and a sunset

Earning Status by Completing a Status Challenge

Hilton is currently offering folks an opportunity to earn Gold status for those who have status with another hotel chain. With this status match opportunity you’ll receive an instant match for 90 days and then have the opportunity to keep the status through March 2020! To receive the match for the next year and a half-ish, you just need to complete 4 stays within that 90 day time period.

The match will be based on what level of status you currently have at another program. The site does not state the corresponding status levels, but based on previous years experience, it seems like if you have SPG Gold, Marriott Gold, Ritz-Carlton Gold, Hyatt Explorist, IHG Platinum Elite, Club Carlson Gold, you’ll receive a match to Hilton Gold. Of course there is a Diamond match opportunity if you are looking for an even higher status level! You can learn more about the status match here.

Earning Status by Having a Hilton Co-Branded Credit Card

Hilton offers 4 different co-branded credit cards and every single one of them will earn you some sort of Hilton status. While the Hilton Honors Aspire card will earn you Diamond status (although a hefty annual fee) and the Hilton Honors Card will earn you Silver status (no annual fee), there are two cards that automatically grant you the desired Gold status: Hilton Honors Ascend Card from American Express and Hilton Honors American Express Business Card.

You can learn more about the limited time offer and the differences between the Hilton co-branded cards here.

Overall…

Hilton has made it extremely easy for travelers to receive Gold status and actually offer some decent benefits at this level. In addition to the complimentary breakfast, some of my other favorite benefits include 5th night free when using points (must have Silver, Gold, or Diamond status) and room upgrades (depending on space availability).
