IHG’s New “Accelerate” Promotion is Here

IHG just launched their new Accelerate promotion where you can earn bonus points between May 1 and August 31, 2019. Similar to all other IHG Accelerate promotions, you’ll receive a personalized offer and the number of points you earn depends on how many “tasks” you complete. Some members will receive better promotions than others. To see your offer, you’ll need to register here.

My personal offer is actually pretty decent. If I complete 5 nights  I’ll earn 50,600 bonus points. If I complete two 2-night stays at two different brands (with one of them being at an IHG), that will check off the the first two tasks. Then if I complete one more night at an IHG property that will check off the third task. Out of the three stays, two of them need to be a bonus points package and at least one stay needs to be paid for with my IHG credit card.

Keep in mind, “tasks” can overlap, so one stay might check check multiple boxes.

I won’t be taking advantage of this offer…

Although my offer is decent, it is not mattress run worthy. My family is focusing on Hyatt this year since I absolutely love Hyatt Globalist status. Since we do not have a need to stay at an IHG property over the weekend, I will not be taking advantage of this promotion. Although, if I do have two random IHG stays, that could earn me 13,700 points. (As long as I book a bonus point package rate and pay with my IHG credit card).

If you are not tied to a certain chain or if IHG is your preference, this could be a great opportunity to earn extra points on stays you were going to complete anyways. And if you find yourself a night shy of earning a ton of points, you might see if finding a cheap mattress run stay is worth it for your personalized promotion.

What is your targeted offer? Will you be taking advantage?
