Today’s Daily Getaway promotion is offering the opportunity to purchase Choice Privileges points at a pretty significant. Last month, the hotel chain offered a 50% bonus for purchasing their points and while that is one of the best offers we’ve seen, today’s Daily Getaway offer is even better!
There are four different packages:
- 14,000 Choice Privileges points for $80 (.57 cents per point)
- 28,000 Choice Privileges points for $144 (.51 cents per point)
- 42,000 Choice Privileges points for $205 (.49 cents per point)
- 55,000 Choice Privileges points for $265 (.48 cents per point)
As you can see, with this Daily Getaway option you can purchase Choice Privilege points at a pretty good discount. You are allowed to purchase 2 sets of each offer per account, so in theory you can purchase 278,000 points per account (since there are a total of 4 different offers, you can purchase a total of 8). Since so many quantities, the chance of purchasing this deal are high, but no guarantee.
But is this a good deal?
For some readers, this will be an absolutely amazing deal. For others, they will pass right by this offer for many reasons. First off, Choice hotels are not your most aspirational properties. While they do have some that are part of their higher end Ascend Collection and their Bluegreen Vacation Clubs, the rest of them are typically more so a place to lay your head. Definitely not a bad thing at all, but it depends on exactly what you are looking for. Not only that, the huge disadvantage of the Choice Privileges program is that you cannot redeem your points until 100 days out. This can be a huge issue if you are looking to plan vacations ahead of time. There is absolutely no guarantee that the availability will still be there a little over three months out, especially at some of their better properties.
On the flip side, when you go to redeem your Choice points, you pay the same number of points regardless of the room size. Suites price out as the exact same number of points as a studio at the same property. Some properties, such as their Bluegreen Vacation Clubs, even have up to 3-bedroom suites. If the room is available, it is yours for the same number of points. This is huge for families who want to spread out! Of course though, that room night not be available when you are actually able to book.
My personal take
I personally am excited for this deal, but I have a specific usage. There is a Bluegreen Vacation Club property half a mile away from a ski mountain that my family likes to go to in New Hampshire. It is a great property and only costs 16,000 points a night. At a rate of about .5 cents per point, this will cost my family less than $100 a night. Of course though I am taking a chance since I’ll be looking to book during peak ski season and I am not sure about availability on points. Fortunately, I am flexible on the weekend we go and will book exactly 100 days out. Tip: To check availability you must have at least 6,000 points in your account.
This is going to be a popular offer today, although there are a ton of packages. I am not sure whether or not this one will go quick. But as a reminder, the packages will go on sale exactly at 1pm ET.
