Thank you all for participating in my Southwest Airlines gift card giveaway. From the look of it, it seems as though most people were able to get their companion pass through the credit card sign up, although there were some other great suggestions as well. If you are still looking for ways to earn the companion pass, check out my prior blog post which details out many methods including the credit card sign up route.

I used to select my two giveaway winners. Each will receive a $100 Southwest Airlines gift card which they can use on their next Southwest flight (or any Southwest flight for that matter!). They do not expire and of course were purchased at Staples using my Chase Ink Plus where I got 5x points! So while you each got $100, I got 1,000 Chase Ultimate Reward points (this prior blog post goes into detail about getting 5x points on all gift card purchases at Staples by using the Chase Ink Bold and Plus credit card).

The winners are… drumroll please….

  • #43, Matt E. – “Applied for both personal cards in November, hit the $2k mark on Jan 4. Finished off the remaining 6000 pts with a transfer from Choice Hotels, and now my wife and I will be American Travelers for the next 2 years!”

  • #279, Steven – “I got the companion pass benefits by marrying someone who earned the companion pass the hardway! She opened up one credit card and the rest of the points were earned by flying on southwest. She travels a bunch for work.”Screen Shot 2014-01-22 at 7.10.20 PM

Matt and Steven, please contact me at dealswelike at so I know where to send the gift card. Congrats!
