Southwest Airlines just announced that they will be capping fares at $199 one-way. While I absolutely do not recommend anyone to travel now, this could be a good opportunity to re-book those vacations you had to cancel. The $199 fare cap is for all flights booked through Friday, March 20 for travel through June 17, 2020.

I personally wouldn’t recommend booking anything until at least the end of April and still having the mindset that there is a very good chance that you’ll need to cancel those flights. Fortunately though, Southwest has extremely-friendly change and cancelation policies. If you book with points, all points go straight into the account they were booked from and paid fares will be credited to a Southwest Travel Fund voucher.

Fly from Chicago to Kauai for $195 one-way.

Although many flights were already pricing out well under this cap, if you are looking to fly cross country, head to the Hawaiian-islands or soak up the sun in the Caribbean, this could be a great deal.

Just remember though to be socially responsible because. Even though you might find an amazing deal to fly somewhere tomorrow and sty at some incredible hotel, stay home for right now. And even for the next few weeks. Let’s let the Coronavirus pass and be part of the solution to “flatten the curve”.

Can someone explain this Southwest policy to me? I book a $300 tickets and use a $5 voucher that will expire in 2 weeks. I need to cancel the flight and according to SWA, my entire $300 will now be on a voucher that expires in 2 weeks?! How do they justify that? i love SWA and fly them all the time but this sounds pretty unfair to me.
