While not travel related, this is a great deal for those that like to shop at Bloomingdales! To get this savings you must: 1) purchase items part of their Friends & Family sale (most items), 2) shop online and go through an online shopping portal, and 3) purchase a discounted gift card through a cash back site.

Step 1: Purchase a Discounted Bloomingdales Gift Card

Purchase a discounted gift card at Currently, there are a ton of gift cards being sold at a 10% discount. The gift cards range anywhere between $470-$1,000 in value. These are eGift cards which is perfect so you should receive the gift card immediately (although they do say it can take up to 24 hours). New members will also receive a $5 bonus.

Step 2: Go Through an Online Shopping Portal First

Go through an online shopping portal prior to going directly to the website. is offering 20% cash back which is the best I’ve ever seen — typically we see opportunities at 10-15% cash back, but 20% cash back is definitely a rarity and an unbelievable deal. Going through the shopping portal will literally take one extra minute and ultimately put you directly on the Bloomingdales website. The 20% cash back ends today!

Step 3: Shop Bloomingdales Friends & Family

Add the items to your Bloomingdales shopping card. There is no extra promotion code needed an everyone will receive 25% off their entire purchase (keep in mind that you’ll only get 20% off small electrics, gadgets, designer jewelry and cookware). Also, Bloomingdales has waived the shipping fees during Friends & Family, so free shipping for all!

So how does this calculate to 47% off?

Actually, with perfect math you’ll get 47.5% off. With that being said, I want to preface this with saying that this is not perfect science since you cannot purchase a discounted gift card at the exact amount you want. So for the sake or running the numbers, I am assuming a perfect world with purchasing your exact desired gift card amount and no tax. Let’s say you are looking to purchase a a total of $500 item. Here are your savings:

  • The Friends & Family discount of 25% will bring this order down to $375 — a $125 savings
  • Assuming a $375 gift card purchase, you’ll actually only spend $337.50 on the gift card (10% savings) — a $37.50 savings
  • You’ll receive 20% cash back on the $375 purchase by going through (20% savings on the total amount spent, not the retail price) — a $75 savings

Adding up the total savings equals $237.50. This means, on a $500 purchase, you’ll only spend $262.50 for a total of 47.5% off your total purchase! This is an incredible way to save a ton of money on Bloomingdales. Of course though, your actual savings might be slightly less depending on if you purchase a gift card and the actual value of the gift card. Gift cards can also sell out. If you go about this without purchasing the gift card, you’ll still save 40% off! The perfect science gift card purchase just allows you to save an extra 7%, so the decision is yours weather or not you want to go that route (I know purchasing discounted gift cards is not for everyone).

Enjoy your discounted purchase at Bloomingdales!

  1. If you’re not interested in the gift card route, check Amex Offers, I have an offer for 1 extra MR/$ on my Amex Gold. Not the best, but a plus none the less.
