While I know some of you are anxiously awaiting, the time has come for this years grand slam promotion with US Airways. I have detailed the program in a previous blog post. Essentially, you can earn up to 110,000 miles (and many miles in between), based on the number of “hits” you earn. To earn “hits”, you must complete a qualifying transaction with a Dividend Miles partner. In my previous post, I included a detailed list of all the partners and qualifying activities.

Key things to note:

  • The promotion runs between September 14-November 14, 2011
  • You MUST register first prior to completing any qualifying activities — I would suggest registering NOW!

I am contemplating on whether or not I will take part in this promotion. MommyPoints lays out a quick and easy way to earn 10,000 miles (will cost her $34 in total). While I will absolutely go ahead and get the free (or relatively close to free “hits”), I still need to decide how far I am willing to go.

Keep in mind that you can currently purchase US Airways miles and receive a 100% bonus (prior blog post). This promotion runs until tomorrow, September 15, 2011. Click here to purchase US Airways miles.

  • Buy 10,000 – 19,000 miles = 10,000 bonus
  • Buy 20,000 – 29,000 miles = 20,000 bonus
  • Buy 30,000 – 39,000 miles = 30,000 bonus
  • Buy 40,000 – 49,000 miles = 40,000 bonus
  • Buy 50,000 miles = 50,000 bonus

Miles are sold for $0.0275 per mile plus a tax recovery charge of 7.5%. GST/HST will be charged to Canadian residents.

So, if you do not have the time to go for the US Airways Grand Slam promotion, you can always just purchase the necessary miles. 100,000 US Airways miles will cost $1375. Personally, I think this is a great deal!  The one caveat is that US Airways accounts must be at least 12 days old in order to buy or receive gifted miles.

Feel free to comment letting me know if you are going to take advantage of the US Airways Grand Slam promotion. All strategies are welcome!
