Hyatt just announced a pretty major change to the Hyatt Place brand. One of my favorite aspects about Hyatt Place properties is that you get complimentary breakfast regardless of who you are. And their breakfast is typically pretty good! All of that is about to change though, although it isn’t too too bad.

Starting on November 1 2018, you’ll still have the opportunity to complimentary breakfast as long as you are part of the World of Hyatt program. You just need to be a member, even the lowest level member, and you’ll still receive the breakfast. No high end status is needed. This is a great way for Hyatt to increase the number of members in their program as you simply just need to sign up. You can even sign up to be a member upon check-in. You can join Hyatt’s loyalty program here.

The one other restriction is that you must have booked your stay through Hyatt directly. Typically when you book through a third-party site you do not receive any member benefits. This means that you most likely will not receive the complimentary breakfast. This is also a smart play on Hyatt’s part as it is another reason to entice members to book directly with Hyatt. Hyatt has to pay third-parties a small fee every time someone books with them and completes their stay, so of course they’d prefer if their guests book with them directly.
