Finally American Express is back with a good transfer opportunity! American Express is giving you a 40% bonus when transferring your Membership Reward points to British Airways. This promotion will run through January 31, 2015 and there is no registration needed on your end which is nice.
I typically hold onto my American Express points for their flexibility, but this is actually a promotion I might take advantage of without an actual redemption in mind. I probably will transfer about half of my points over speculatively. If you do not redeem for British Airways flights much, I probably would sway against transferring speculatively, but again, there aren’t too many other transfer promotions, so this might be the best you get. While redeeming for British Airways flights via London can be quite expensive (due to the hefty taxes/fees), there are some other hidden gem redemption opportunities. Personally, using your British Airways points on partner airline American Airline to fly within the US or to Canada and the Caribbean can be amazing. You can also fly from the US to Ireland, Madrid, Barcelona, and a few other international offers for cheap.

If you are looking to increase your British Airways point balance you can also look into the current British Airways credit card offer. The current offer is 50,000 points after spending $2,000 in the first three months, plus the first year annual fee waived. Related blog post; Application link
