Last week, Starwood announced their 10th brand called Tribute Portfolio Hotels & Resorts. This brand is very similar to their Luxury Collection as it will consist of all independent hotels. This means they won’t be your typical Sheraton, Westin, W, etc. hotel and instead will allow independent hotels to get their name out there. This brand will focus on luxury hotels and will be a great opportunity to redeem your SPG points at additional high end properties.
As of right now there are five hotels that will be part of the Tribute Portfolio. They include: The Royal Palm South Beach Miami, Asheville North Carolina, Nashville Tennessee, Savannah Georgia, and Charleston South Carolina. The properties will join the Starwood brand within the next year or so and within the next 5 years they hope to have about 100 properties included in the brand. As of right now, the only one you can book through SPG is the Royal Palm South Beach which is a category 6 hotel.
In addition to being able to redeem points at these properties, you’ll also be able to earn points on paid stays and get all the perks of having status. This is something you are typically not able to get at independent hotels (unless you book through a 3rd party side that gives benefits, like American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts or Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection.
